Regarding the Great Resignation commentary I read in the Houston Chronicle today, I worked in Aerospace and Technology for 40 years, a lot of it in executive positions. We always felt that 10% annual employee turnover was OK. It turns out, even in Rocket Science, that most work is NOT Rocket Science and what you need are Willing Workers. While you lost some good talent, you hired back new talent with fresh perspectives that were not necessarily “in love” with “the way we do things here”. That is almost always a good thing. Either you change the way things are done or you convince all again that the way things are done is at least OK.
So 2.5% quit rate may be too low for the good of company and economy-st-large vigor.
